Nissan Motor has unveiled a new driver assistance technology in which AI artificial intelligence judges complex traffic situations in urban areas and controls the steering and brakes.

It is expected that, as AI learns to drive safely like humans, autonomous driving will eventually become possible on all kinds of roads, including places it is driving for the first time.
日産はイギリスのスタートアップ企業と共同で運転支援技術の研究開発を進めていて今回、都内での実証走行を公開しました。
Nissan has been jointly conducting research and development of driving assistance technology with a British startup, and this time, they showcased a demonstration run in Tokyo.
車両には、AIが搭載され、11個のカメラを通じて周辺の交通状況を把握し、自動でハンドルやブレーキを制御します。
The vehicle is equipped with AI, which monitors the surrounding traffic conditions through 11 cameras and automatically controls the steering and brakes.
例えば、路上に駐車された車の脇を通り抜ける際は、人が急に飛び出してくるおそれがあることからゆっくり走るほか、前方に入ろうとする車があれば、車間を空けて道を譲ることもできます。
For example, when passing by a car parked on the street, you should drive slowly because someone might suddenly jump out, and if there is a car trying to enter in front of you, you can leave enough space and yield the right of way.
ただ、こうした機能はあくまで運転の支援が目的でドライバーは常に運転できる態勢をとっておく必要があります。
However, these functions are intended solely to assist driving, so the driver must always be prepared to operate the vehicle.
会社はさらに安全性を高めたうえで、2027年度に市販車へ搭載する計画です。
The company plans to further enhance safety and install it in commercial vehicles in fiscal year 2027.
また、このシステムではAIが安全な運転を学習していくため、将来的には初めて走る場所も含めたあらゆる道路で自動運転が可能になると期待されています。

日産自動車の飯島徹也部長は「AIを車に搭載したときの性能の向上は驚くべきレベルで、私たちが目指し続けてきた人間のレベルに近づいてきている。
Nissan Motors General Manager Tetsuya Iijima said, The performance improvements when AI is installed in cars are at an astonishing level, and it is getting closer to the human level that we have continuously aimed for.
