政権の中枢メンバーの交代は初めてで、ウォルツ補佐官は民間のメッセージアプリにグループチャットを立ち上げ、軍事作戦の情報を流出させたことが問題視されていました。
It was the first time that a core member of the administration had been replaced, and Deputy Chief Walz was under scrutiny for launching a group chat on a private messaging app and leaking information about military operations.
アメリカのトランプ大統領は1日、SNSで、ホワイトハウスで安全保障政策を担当するウォルツ大統領補佐官を新しい国連大使に指名すると発表しました。
On the 1st, U.S. President Trump announced on social media that he would nominate Deputy National Security Advisor Waltz, who is in charge of security policy at the White House, as the new U.N. ambassador.
安全保障政策を担当する大統領補佐官は、当面、ルビオ国務長官が兼務するということです。
The Secretary of State, Rubio, will concurrently serve as the President’s National Security Advisor for the time being.
ウォルツ補佐官をめぐってはことし3月、民間のメッセージアプリに政権の中枢メンバーらのグループチャットを立ち上げた際に誤って雑誌メディアの記者をメンバーに加え、そこで中東イエメンでの軍事作戦の情報をやりとりしていたことが詳細に報じられ、機密情報の取り扱いに疑念が持たれる事態となっていました。
In March of this year, it was reported in detail that when Deputy Assistant Waltz set up a group chat on a private messaging app with key members of the administration, he accidentally added a magazine journalist as a member. In that chat, information about military operations in Yemen in the Middle East was exchanged, raising doubts about the handling of classified information.
そのため、トランプ大統領が時間をおいて更迭するのではないかという見方が広がり、この発表に先立ってアメリカの複数の主要メディアはウォルツ補佐官が辞任する見通しになったと伝えていました。
Therefore, there was growing speculation that President Trump might dismiss him after some time, and prior to this announcement, several major American media outlets reported that Deputy Assistant Waltz was expected to resign.
このうちニューヨーク・タイムズは「トランプ大統領の側近の多くはイランとの核合意やロシアとの関係正常化を望むトランプ氏と、タカ派のウォルツ氏には方向性の違いがあると見ていた」と伝えています。
The New York Times reports that many of President Trumps close aides saw a difference in direction between Mr. Trump, who wants a nuclear agreement with Iran and normalization of relations with Russia, and the hawkish Mr. Waltz.
2期目のトランプ政権発足以降、政権の中枢メンバーの交代は初めてです。
Since the start of Trumps second administration, this is the first time there has been a change among the core members of the administration.
