Columbia University cancels entire graduation citing safety concerns because of the recent protests.
全米の学生によるイスラエルへの抗議デモの象徴になったニューヨークのコロンビア大は6日、安全上の配慮から15日に予定していた全体での卒業式を中止し、専攻ごとに分散して小規模な式典に変更すると発表した
On May 6th, Columbia University in New York, which has become a symbol of student protests against Israel across the United States, canceled its entire graduation ceremony scheduled for the 15th due to safety concerns, and held separate small-scale graduation ceremonies for each major. It was announced that the ceremony would be split into smaller ones.
These ceremonies will be held from the 10th to the 16th.

At Columbia University, students opposing Israel’s attack on Gaza, the Palestinian autonomous region, have been setting up tents and occupying part of the university grounds since mid-April.
Some of the protestors broke into the school building on April 30th, and the police forcibly removed them, resulting in many arrests.

Due to the demonstrations, the University of Southern California has decided to cancel its entire graduation ceremony as well.
