Taiwan’s Cat Village: A city where hundreds of cats are thrown away.
台湾北部にある猫村の「ホウトン」です
It is ”Houton” of Cat Village in northern Taiwan.
There are figures of cats who are relaxing everywhere.
ホウトンは１９００年代初めまで、台湾で最大の炭鉱の街と言われました
Houghton was said to be the largest coal mining city in Taiwan until the early 1900s.
However, in 1990, the population dropped from around 6,000 to around 100 at closed schools.
２０１０年、猫を愛する写真家が、捨て猫についてブログを書き始めたことで、ホウトンは有名になって、猫は住民の大きな収入源になりました
In 2010, cat-loving photographers began blogging about abandoned cats, making Horton famous and making cats a big source of income for the population.
The cat has become a houton symbol.
The number of tourists in the cat’s eye climbed to about one million a year.
However, the number of tourists does not keep increasing.
Also, the health of cats is noted.
