A rare ”koto jellyfish” was found in the Sea of Japan
An aquarium in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, etc. caught a rare creature called ”Kotokyage” in the Sea of Japan.

Koto jellyfish are found in the deep seas of Kagoshima and Okinawa prefectures.
The body size is about 15 cm, and the shape resembles a harp, a musical instrument.
A year ago, Aquamarine Fukushima, an aquarium in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, was conducting a survey in the sea of Sado Island together with an aquarium in Niigata Prefecture.
At that time, I caught two Koto jellyfish at a depth of 130m to 140m.
According to the aquarium, this is the first time a jellyfish has been found in the Sea of Japan, Japan’s territorial waters.

It was thought that the Koto jellyfish existed as far as Sagami Bay in Kanagawa Prefecture in Japan.
