ファイザー社が承認申請していた5歳から11歳向けの新型コロナワクチンについて、厚生労働省の審議会は使用することを了承しました。
ファイザー社は、これまで対象外だった5歳から11歳の子ども用のワクチンについて承認申請をしていました。
20日、厚労省で開かれた専門家による審議会は、この世代にも安全性や有効性が確認できたとして小児用ワクチンの使用を了承しました。
5歳から11歳への接種の拡大は国内では初めてで、後藤厚労大臣が速やかに特例承認する見通しです。
ファイザーの小児用ワクチンは大人と比べて接種量が3分の1で、日本小児科学会などが取り扱いに注意するほか、医師の丁寧な説明が必要などと提言をまとめています。
