ベトナムを訪問している秋篠宮ご夫妻が日本と外交関係を結び、50年を記念する式典に出席されました。　
Prince Akishino and his wife, who are visiting Vietnam, attended the celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Japan.
式典で、秋篠宮ご夫妻はベトナムの子どもたちの合唱などを鑑賞されました。
At the ceremony, Prince Akishino and his wife enjoyed the Vietnamese children's choir.
「今日の両国の友好関係は、1000年以上の長い交流の歴史の中で培われてきました」　
“Today's friendly relationship between Japan and Vietnam has been cultivated through a long history of exchanges over 1,000 years.”
秋篠宮さまはさらに、「歴史に思いをはせながら、日本とベトナムとの交流の歩みに触れることができれば」と挨拶されました。　
Prince Akishino continued to address the audience: “I hope you will be able to experience the process of exchange between Japan and Vietnam while thinking about previous history.”
これに先立ち、ご夫妻は第二次世界大戦で駐留した元日本兵が戦後、現地に残してきたベトナム人の家族らと面会されました。　
Prior to this, the couple met with Vietnamese families of former Japanese soldiers stationed there during World War II who left behind after the war.
面会を終えた家族らは、秋篠宮ご夫妻が「困難を乗り越えるよう励ましてくれた」などと話しました。
After the visit, family members said Prince Akishino and his wife encouraged them to overcome difficulties.
