17日に破産申請したのはアメリカで結婚した女性の4人に1人がそのウェディングドレスに袖を通したといわれる、業界最大手のデイビッド・ブライダルです。
民間の調査会社によると、アメリカの25歳から54歳までの全成人のうち、パートナーがいない割合は1990年から9％増え、2019年には38％を記録しました。　
パートナーがいない人の年収は、いる人よりも低くなっていて、経済的な理由から結婚できない人が多くなっています。　
破産申請した会社はこうした根本的な原因に加え、「結婚式で伝統的なドレスを選ばない人が増え、経営を悪化させた」としています。
