岸防衛大臣は東京に寄港しているドイツ海軍のフリゲート艦を視察し、日本とドイツの防衛協力を一層、発展させていく考えを示しました。　
Defense Minister Kishi visited the German Navy frigate docked in Tokyo and expressed his intention to further develop defense cooperation between Japan and Germany.
「バイエルンの寄港は、強まるニ国間関係を象徴するのみならず、今後のさらなる日独防衛協力発展の足掛かりとなります」

フリゲート艦「バイエルン」は4日から関東の南の海上で自衛隊と共同訓練を行い、5日午後2時ごろ、東京に寄港しました。　
The warship "Bayern" conducted a joint training with the Self-Defense Force in the waters south of the Kanto area from the 4th and visited Tokyo around 2pm on the 5th.
ドイツ軍の艦艇が日本に寄港するのはおよそ20年ぶりです。　
This is the first time in about 20 years that a German warship has visited Japan.
ドイツは去年、インド太平洋地域での外交や安全保障に貢献するため、日本などとの関係を強化する方針を打ち出しています。
Last year, Germany announced a policy of strengthening ties with Japan and other countries to contribute to diplomacy and security in the Indo-Pacific region.
バイエルンの派遣は北朝鮮が国連制裁決議に違反して洋上で物資を積み替える「瀬取り」の行為を監視するほか、インド太平洋地域で影響力を拡大している中国を牽制する狙いがあるとみられます。
The Bavarian dispatch will monitor North Korea's "ship-to-ship" transshipment of supplies at sea in violation of UN sanctions resolutions, at the same time aim to contain China, which is expanding its influence in the Indo-Pacific region.
