ホワイトハウスのレビット報道官は31日、ホワイトハウスの東棟を改修して新たな大広間を建設すると発表しました。
White House spokesperson Leavitt announced on the 31st that the East Wing of the White House will be renovated to construct a new grand hall.
ホワイトハウスで現在、最も広い「イーストルーム」は定員200人ですが、新たな大広間ではおよそ650人が着席でき、8300平方メートルを超える広さになるとしています。
The largest room currently in the White House, the East Room, has a capacity of 200 people, but the new grand hall is said to be able to seat about 650 people and will have an area exceeding 8,300 square meters.
費用はおよそ2億ドル、日本円で300億円と見積り、連邦政府の資金は使わずにトランプ大統領や支持者からの寄付で賄う方針です。

工事はことし9月から始まり、レビット報道官は完成時期について「2029年1月のトランプ大統領の任期の終わりより、十分に早く完了する」という見通しを示しました。
