The final womens golf major of the season, the Womens British Open, held its second round on August 1st. Miyuu Yamashita improved her score by seven strokes and took sole possession of the lead at 11-under par overall.
首位と1打差の3位から出た山下選手は、1番で第2打をピンそばに寄せてバーディーとし、2番ではおよそ10メートルのパットを沈めて連続バーディーと好スタートを切りました。
Yamashita, who started the day in third place, one stroke behind the leader, hit her second shot close to the pin on the first hole for a birdie, then sank a roughly 10-meter putt on the second hole for back-to-back birdies, making a strong start.
さらに9番から11番まで3連続バーディーを奪い、風が強まった終盤も崩れず、最終の18番もバーディーで締めくくるなど、第2ラウンドはバーディー7つ、ボギーなしでスコアを7つ伸ばしました。
He made three consecutive birdies from the 9th to the 11th holes, stayed steady even as the wind picked up toward the end, and finished strong with another birdie on the final 18th hole. In the second round, he recorded seven birdies and no bogeys, improving his score by seven strokes.
翌日8月2日が誕生日の山下選手は、23歳最後のラウンドで通算11アンダーとして単独トップに立ち、決勝ラウンドに進みました。
Yamashita, whose birthday is the next day, August 2nd, finished his last round as a 23-year-old at 11-under par to take the sole lead and advance to the final round.
首位からスタートした竹田麗央選手は、山下選手と同じ組で回り、スコアを3つ伸ばして通算8アンダーで3打差の2位で続いています。
Rie Takeda, who started in the lead, played in the same group as Yamashita and improved her score by three, now trailing in second place at 8-under, three strokes behind.
畑岡奈紗選手がスコアを4つ伸ばして通算2アンダーとし、10位に浮上しました。
Nasa Hataoka improved her score by four strokes to reach a total of 2-under, moving up to 10th place.
このほかの日本勢では、古江彩佳選手と西郷真央選手、吉田優利選手、岩井明愛選手、岩井千怜選手、勝みなみ選手が、いずれも1オーバーの35位で決勝ラウンドに進みました。
In addition to this, among the Japanese players, Ayaka Furue, Mao Saigo, Yuri Yoshida, Akie Iwai, Chisato Iwai, and Minami Katsu all advanced to the final round, tied for 35th place at 1 over par.
2019年の大会で優勝した渋野日向子選手や、初日首位の岡山絵里選手などは、予選落ちしました。
Players such as Hinako Shibuno, who won the tournament in 2019, and Eri Okayama, who was the leader on the first day, failed to make the cut.
