In June of this year, about one ton of dried marijuana was discovered in a shipping container from a vessel that arrived at Tokyo Port from Vietnam. Later, it was seized by the Narcotics Control Department of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare at the destination where it was transported, according to information obtained from investigative sources.

According to investigators, when Tokyo Customs inspected a cargo ship that departed from Da Nang Port in Vietnam and arrived at Tokyo Port this June, they found a large quantity of dried marijuana in 200 cardboard boxes inside a container of the cargo.

営利目的で
密輸したなどとして、
麻薬取締法違反の
疑いで
逮捕しました。
In connection with this case, the Narcotics Control Department has arrested three people, including Pham Ngoc Thuy, a 51-year-old Vietnamese national living in Ibaraki Prefecture, on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Act for allegedly smuggling marijuana for commercial purposes.
