In June of this year, about one ton of dried marijuana was discovered in a shipping container from a vessel that arrived at Tokyo Port from Vietnam. Later, it was seized by the Narcotics Control Department of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare at the destination where it was transported, according to information obtained from investigative sources.

It is said to be the largest amount of illegal drugs ever seized at one time, and the Narcotics Control Department has so far arrested three Vietnamese individuals and is investigating the case, believing that an international drug smuggling group is involved.
捜査関係者によりますと、ベトナムのダナン港を出港しことし6月に東京港に到着した貨物船を東京税関が調べたところ、積み荷のコンテナの中にあった段ボール200箱から大量の乾燥大麻が見つかったということです。
According to investigators, when Tokyo Customs inspected a cargo ship that departed from Da Nang Port in Vietnam and arrived at Tokyo Port this June, they found a large quantity of dried marijuana in 200 cardboard boxes inside a container of the cargo.
大麻はその後、港から運び出され、追跡した麻薬取締部が北関東で押収しました。
After that, the marijuana was transported from the port and was seized in northern Kanto by the narcotics control authorities who had been tracking it.
大麻は重さおよそ1トンで、去年、警察や麻薬取締部などが全国で押収した乾燥大麻の合計、452キロの倍以上で、1度に押収された違法薬物の量としては統計が残っている範囲で過去最大となります。
Cannabis weighed approximately one ton, which is more than twice the total amount of dried cannabis seized nationwide by the police and narcotics control departments last year—452 kilograms—and is the largest amount of illegal drugs ever seized at one time according to available records.
この事件で、麻薬取締部は、ベトナム国籍で茨城県に住むファム・ゴック・テゥイ容疑者（51）など3人をこれまでに大麻を営利目的で密輸したなどとして、麻薬取締法違反の疑いで逮捕しました。
In connection with this case, the Narcotics Control Department has arrested three people, including Pham Ngoc Thuy, a 51-year-old Vietnamese national living in Ibaraki Prefecture, on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Act for allegedly smuggling marijuana for commercial purposes.
捜査関係者によりますと、大麻の最終的な送り先は大阪市にある会社宛てになっていたということで、背後に国際的な薬物の密輸グループが関わっているとみて詳しいいきさつを調べています。
According to investigators, the final destination for the marijuana was addressed to a company in Osaka City, and they are investigating the details, suspecting the involvement of an international drug smuggling group.
