Israel has announced its intention to expand military operations in the Palestinian Gaza Strip, where the humanitarian situation is worsening. In response, the foreign ministers of 26 countries, including Japan, issued a joint statement calling on Israel to allow all aid supplies to be brought into the Gaza Strip.
ガザ地区では、イスラエル軍が支援物資の搬入を拡大するためとして輸送路の安全確保などの措置を7月末から行っていますが、食料不足は続いていて地元の保健当局によりますと、12日の時点で子ども103人を含む227人が栄養失調などで死亡しています。
In the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military has been taking measures such as securing transport routes since the end of July to expand the delivery of aid supplies, but food shortages persist. According to local health authorities, as of the 12th, 227 people, including 103 children, have died from malnutrition and other causes.
こうした中、日本やイギリスなど26か国の外相らが12日、共同声明を発表し、「住民の苦しみは想像を絶するレベルに達している」としてイスラエルに対しすべての支援物資の搬入を認め、支援関係者の活動を制限しないよう求めました。
In this context, on the 12th, the foreign ministers of 26 countries, including Japan and the United Kingdom, issued a joint statement, calling on Israel to allow the entry of all aid supplies and not to restrict the activities of aid workers, stating that the suffering of residents has reached an unimaginable level.
また、ガザ地区では食料の配給に集まった住民がイスラエル軍にたびたび銃撃されるなどしていて地元当局のまとめではこれまでに1800人以上が死亡していることから、共同声明は食料の配給所で武力を使用しないよう求めています。
In addition, in the Gaza Strip, residents who gathered for food distribution have repeatedly been shot by the Israeli military, and according to local authorities, more than 1,800 people have died so far. Therefore, the joint statement calls for refraining from the use of force at food distribution sites.
さらに共同声明は、支援物資が制限なく搬入されるためには停戦が必要だとしていますが、イスラエルは軍事作戦を拡大する方針で、人道状況のさらなる悪化が懸念されています。
Furthermore, the joint statement says that a ceasefire is necessary for aid supplies to be delivered without restrictions, but Israel intends to expand its military operations, raising concerns about a further deterioration of the humanitarian situation.
