The daytime high temperatures are expected to reach 38°C in Saga City, Hita City in Oita Prefecture, and Kurume City in Fukuoka Prefecture; 37°C in Kumamoto City and Takamatsu City; 36°C in Okayama City, Osaka City, and Nagoya City; and 35°C in Kagoshima City, Oita City, and Kofu City. Intense heat is also expected in areas affected by record-breaking heavy rain.

A heatstroke alert has been issued for 22 prefectures, mainly in western Japan such as Kumamoto and Kagoshima, where there has been damage from heavy rain, as the risk of heatstroke is extremely high.

Around Gojome Town in Akita Prefecture, radar analysis indicated that about 100 millimeters of torrential rain fell in one hour up to 1:10 a.m., and a record-breaking short-term heavy rain information alert was issued.

The amount of rainfall in the 24 hours until the morning of the 16th is expected to be as much as 100 millimeters in some areas, such as the Sea of Japan side of the Tohoku region.

In northern Japan, be alert for landslides, flooding in low-lying areas, and rising or overflowing rivers, and also pay attention to severe gusts such as lightning and tornadoes.
