東京大空襲で
家族を
失った
女性がみずからの
体験を
証言し、
戦後80年がたっても
消えることのない
心の
苦しみや
悲しみを
語りました。
On the 15th in Tokyo, a woman who lost her family in the Tokyo air raids shared her experiences, speaking about the enduring pain and sorrow in her heart that have not faded even 80 years after the war.

開かれた
催しには、
親子連れ
などおよそ50人が
参加し、
3歳の
時に
東京大空襲に
遭った
吉田由美子さん（
84）がみずからの
体験を
証言しました。
At an event held at the “Tokyo Air Raid and War Damage Resource Center” in Koto Ward, Tokyo, about 50 people, including parents and children, participated, and Yumiko Yoshida 84, who experienced the Tokyo air raid at the age of three, shared her own story.
さんは
空襲で
両親と
妹を
亡くして
戦災孤児となり、
預けられた
親戚の
家では
心ないことばをかけられたり
体罰を
受けたりした
一方で、
学校や
地域の
人たちに
支えられ
生活できたことなどを
語りました。
Mr. Yoshida lost his parents and younger sister in an air raid and became a war orphan. While he was subjected to harsh words and corporal punishment at the home of the relatives he was entrusted to, he also talked about how he was able to live thanks to the support of people at school and in the community.
そのうえで、
吉田さんは「
戦争は
大切な
人の
命を
奪うだけでなく
残された
人の
人生も
変えて
しまうもので、その
悲しみやつらさは
ずっと続くことを
知ってほしい。
On top of that, Mr. Yoshida said, I want people to understand that war not only takes away the lives of loved ones, but also changes the lives of those left behind, and that the sadness and pain continue on forever.

平和のバトンを
皆さんに
託します」と
呼びかけました。
War is a man-made disaster and can be stopped, so I entrust the baton of peace to all of you, he called out.

男性は「
これまでにない
視点で
戦争のことを
知ることができました。
A man who participated with his fourth-grade daughter said, I was able to learn about war from a perspective I had never considered before.
きょう

聞いて
娘が
関心を
持ってくれたので、これを
きっかけに
戦争のことを
ほかにも
学んでいければと
思います」と
話していました。
She said, After hearing the story today, my daughter became interested, so I hope this will be an opportunity for us to learn more about war together.

小学5年生の
男の子は「
戦争は
8月15日で
終わりではなく、
残された
人の
中でその
後もずっと
続いているんだと
感じました。
A fifth-grade boy who participated with his mother said, I realized that the war didnt end on August 15th, but has continued on for those who were left behind.

戦争が
一切ないような
世界になってほしいと
思います」と
話していました。
I hope that from now on, the world will become a place where there is no war at all, he said.
