In the case where a 24-year-old woman was stabbed to death with a knife in a condominium in Kobe City, the police apprehended a 35-year-old male company employee in Tokyo on the 22nd and arrested him on suspicion of murder.

The person arrested is Masashi Tanimoto, a 35-year-old company employee from Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo.

According to the police, at around 7:20 p.m. on the 20th of this month, there is suspicion that Megumi Katayama 24, an office worker living in this apartment building in Kobe City, was stabbed several times in the chest and other areas with a knife and killed inside the elevator of the apartment.

Police had been searching for the whereabouts of the man who fled the scene, but based on security camera footage and other evidence, they found that the suspect is believed to have been involved in the incident.

The suspect boarded a Shinkansen train from Shin-Kobe Station to Tokyo around 8 p.m. on the day of the incident. It was discovered that he got off at JR Okutama Station in Tokyo on the 22nd, so with the cooperation of the Metropolitan Police Department, he was apprehended and arrested on a street in Okutama Town.

In questioning, he stated, I dont know if I had murderous intent, but theres no doubt that I stabbed the area around the abdomen once or twice with a knife, partially denying the allegations.

The police are investigating the detailed circumstances.

According to this woman, around 4 p.m. on the 22nd, she heard a loud noise outside her home, and when she went outside, she saw a man being restrained by several police officers at her front door.

After that, additional police officers rushed to the scene one after another, and it is said that about an hour later, they left the scene.

During that time, the man was speaking to the police officer, but it is said that the content could not be heard.

The woman said, Later, I heard from a police officer that he was a suspect in the Kobe incident and that he apparently walked all the way here from JR Okutama Station.

This area is usually only passed by people who know each other, so Im really surprised, they said.
