Early in the morning on the 26th, a large trailer overturned on the Shin-Tomei Expressway in Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture, causing a large amount of industrial waste it was carrying to scatter across the road. The area near the scene remains closed to traffic.
26日午前5時45分ごろ、愛知県岡崎市の新東名高速道路の下り線で、大型トレーラーが横転する単独事故がありました。
Around 5:45 a.m. on the 26th, there was a single-vehicle accident in which a large trailer overturned on the outbound lane of the Shin-Tomei Expressway in Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture.
警察によりますとトレーラーは片側2車線の道路をふさぐような形で横転し、50代の運転手は腕に軽いけがをして病院に搬送されたということです。
According to the police, the trailer overturned in such a way that it blocked both lanes of the road, and the driver in his 50s sustained a minor injury to his arm and was taken to the hospital.
トレーラーは産業廃棄物を運んでいたということで、道路上には積み荷の鉄くずやプラスチックなどが大量に散乱しました。
The trailer was carrying industrial waste, so a large amount of cargo such as scrap metal and plastic was scattered all over the road.
この事故で新東名高速道路は新城インターチェンジから岡崎東インターチェンジの間の下り線で午前6時前から通行止めが続いています。
Due to this accident, the outbound lanes of the Shin-Tomei Expressway between the Shinshiro Interchange and the Okazaki-Higashi Interchange have been closed to traffic since before 6 a.m.
警察や中日本高速道路によりますと、撤去作業は時間がかかる見込みで、これまでに通行止めの解除の見通しは立っていないということです。
According to the police and Central Nippon Expressway, the removal work is expected to take time, and there is currently no prospect for lifting the road closure.
現場は、片側2車線の直線道路で、警察は事故の詳しい状況を調べています。
The scene is a straight road with two lanes on each side, and the police are investigating the details of the accident.
NHKが午前10時ごろにヘリコプターから撮影した映像では、トレーラーが道路上に横転し、積んでいた産業廃棄物が広い範囲に散乱しているのが確認できました。
In footage filmed by helicopter by NHK around 10 a.m., a trailer can be seen overturned on the road, with the industrial waste it was carrying scattered over a wide area.
散乱した産業廃棄物は大きなかたまりで落ちているものもあり、高速道路を管理する会社の社員が回収作業を行っている様子も見られました。
Some of the scattered industrial waste was found in large chunks, and employees of the highway management company could be seen collecting it.
