In the case where six people, including representatives of a pachinko parlor operating company, were arrested on suspicion of promising rewards to employees in exchange for voting for a proportional representation candidate from the Liberal Democratic Party in the July House of Councillors election, it has been revealed that the six divided roles such as explaining to managers nationwide and coordinating the voting situation, and proceeded to solicit employees accordingly.

The president of Delpara, a pachinko chain operator based in Minato Ward, Tokyo, Masanori Yamamoto real name: Changbeom Lee, age 50, along with six other company executives including General Administration Headquarters Director Yoshiyuki Konishi 44 and Sales Headquarters Director Kazuyuki Yuasa 46, were arrested on suspicion of violating the Public Offices Election Act for bribery. They allegedly promised to pay rewards to 60 employees of affiliated stores in exchange for voting for a Liberal Democratic Party proportional representation candidate during last months House of Councillors election. On the 28th, they were sent to the prosecutors office.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, under the instructions of Representative Lee, Chief Konishi and Yuasa held a web conference gathering store managers from across the country, explained that compensation would be paid as overtime pay, and then had two other suspects, who served as East Japan block leader and West Japan block leader, collect the voting status summarized by each store manager. In this way, the organization systematically encouraged employees to participate.

It is suspected that the company had promised to pay compensation to more than 250 employees at 31 stores in Tokyo, Tottori, Kagoshima, and other locations across one metropolis and seven prefectures.

The reward has not been paid so far.

The joint investigation headquarters of the Metropolitan Police Department and other agencies suspects that systematic vote-buying was taking place, and is investigating the store manager and employees on suspicion of violating the Public Offices Election Act.
