A 43-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of fraud for intentionally crashing his bicycle into a taxi on a street in Shinjuku, Tokyo, and fraudulently obtaining settlement money.

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating, believing from dashcam footage and other sources that the suspect has repeated similar acts approximately 100 times so far.
逮捕されたのは、東京中央区の職業不詳、峯川裕樹容疑者（43）です。
The person arrested is Hiroki Minekawa 43, of unknown occupation, from Chuo Ward, Tokyo.
警視庁によりますと去年10月、東京新宿区の路上で、タクシーにわざと自転車でぶつかり、示談金として5000円をだまし取ったとして詐欺の疑いが持たれています。
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, last October in Shinjuku, Tokyo, a person is suspected of intentionally crashing a bicycle into a taxi on the street and fraudulently obtaining 5,000 yen as a settlement payment.
これまでの調べで、容疑者は、タクシーが左折しようとした際に運転席から見えにくい死角に入ってわざとぶつかり、タクシーの運転手に対し「時間かかるしここで解決した方がよいでしょ。
Based on the investigation so far, the suspect intentionally entered a blind spot that was difficult for the taxi driver to see when the taxi was about to turn left and collided on purpose, saying to the taxi driver, Itll take time, so its better to settle this here, right?

He reportedly suggested settling the matter by saying things like, Lets just end it here rather than getting points deducted.
警視庁はドライブレコーダーの映像などから、容疑者が2011年ごろから、新宿区の周辺でタクシーに対し、同じような行為をおよそ100件繰り返していたとみて、調べを進めています。
The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating based on dashcam footage and other evidence, believing that since around 2011, the suspect has repeated similar acts against taxis in the Shinjuku area about 100 times.
調べに対し、容疑者は「弁護士が来るまで話せません」などと認否を留保しているということです。
According to the investigation, the suspect is reportedly withholding their statement, saying things like, I cant talk until my lawyer arrives.
