Kato, the Minister of Finance, announced that he and U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent have compiled a joint statement on foreign exchange policy, reaffirming that exchange rates should be determined by the market.
アメリカの関税措置をめぐって日米の間で合意文書が作成されたことを踏まえ為替分野でも協議の結果をまとめたとしています。
Based on the fact that an agreement document was prepared between Japan and the United States regarding U.S. tariff measures, it is stated that the results of discussions in the field of foreign exchange have also been compiled.
発表された共同声明では、為替レートは市場で決定されるべきであること、過度な変動や無秩序な動きは経済や金融の安定に悪影響を与えることを再確認したとしています。
In the joint statement released, it was reaffirmed that exchange rates should be determined by the market, and that excessive volatility or disorderly movements can have a negative impact on economic and financial stability.
その上で、財政・金融政策はそれぞれの国内目的の達成に向けられ為替レートを目標とはせず、市場介入は、為替レートの過度な変動や無秩序な動きに対処するためのものに留保されるべきだという点でも一致したとしています。
On top of that, they also agreed that fiscal and monetary policies should be directed toward achieving their respective domestic objectives rather than targeting exchange rates, and that market intervention should be reserved only for addressing excessive volatility or disorderly movements in exchange rates.
加藤大臣は記者会見で、アメリカの関税措置をめぐって日米の間で合意文書が作成されたことを踏まえ為替分野でも協議の結果をまとめたものだとして、「日米のこれまでの共通認識とともに透明性のある為替政策などの重要性を確認した。
