12日午前8時ごろ、北海道厚沢部町美和の畑で農家の男性がトウモロコシおよそ40本が食い荒らされているのを見つけ、警察に通報しました。
Around 8 a.m. on the 12th, a farmer in Miwa, Assabu Town, Hokkaido, found that about 40 ears of corn in his field had been eaten, and reported it to the police.
警察に因りますと、この畑では10日から3日連続で被害が確認されていて、食い荒らされたトウモロコシはあわせておよそ470本にのぼります。
According to the police, damage has been confirmed in this field for three consecutive days since the 10th, and the total number of corn that has been eaten amounts to approximately 470.
NHKが所有者の許可を得て設置したカメラには、11日午後8時半ごろ、ヒグマ1頭が姿を現し、トウモロコシの実の部分を口で引きちぎるなどして、30分ほどかけて繰り返し運んでいく様子が捉えられていました。
The camera, which NHK installed with the owners permission, captured footage at around 8:30 p.m. on the 11th of a brown bear appearing and repeatedly carrying away corn cobs by biting off the kernels with its mouth over a period of about 30 minutes.
現場から300メートルほど離れた場所には住宅が点在していて、警察はハンターなどとパトロールを強化するとともに住民に注意を呼びかけています。
There are houses scattered about 300 meters away from the site, and the police are strengthening patrols with hunters and others while also urging residents to be cautious.
被害を受けた農家の横濱達雄さん（75）は「もう、諦めの気持ちです。
