Regarding the exchange program that designates domestic municipalities as hometowns of African countries, Foreign Minister Iwaya indicated that, as incorrect information is still spreading, he intends to quickly review the future direction of the program, taking into account the opinions of the relevant municipalities and others.
先のTICAD＝アフリカ開発会議にあわせて、JICA＝国際協力機構は国内の4つの自治体をアフリカの国の「ホームタウン」に認定し交流事業を進めていますが、SNSなどで「移民を定住させる制度だ」といった事実と異なる情報が広がりました。
In conjunction with the recent TICAD Tokyo International Conference on African Development, JICA Japan International Cooperation Agency has designated four municipalities in Japan as hometowns for African countries and is promoting exchange programs. However, information that differs from the facts, such as claims on social media that this is a system to settle immigrants, has been spreading.
岩屋外務大臣は16日の記者会見で「今なお、誤った情報の拡散が続けられている事態を強く懸念しており、関係自治体の負担にもつながっている状況を重く受け止めている」と述べました。
At a press conference on the 16th, Foreign Minister Iwaya stated, We are deeply concerned that the spread of false information is still ongoing, and we take seriously the fact that this situation is also increasing the burden on the relevant local governments.
その上で「一部の自治体から事業の名称変更の要望が出ていることは承知している。
