アメリカのトランプ大統領は19日、ホワイトハウスで、「H-1B」と呼ばれるITなどの分野で専門的な技能を持つ外国人の就労ビザをめぐる文書に署名しました。
On the 19th, President Trump of the United States signed a document at the White House regarding work visas, known as H-1B, for foreigners with specialized skills in fields such as IT.
文書によりますと、サイエンスなどの分野の外国人労働者は、2000年の120万人から2019年には250万人に増加していて、このビザの乱用が増加の要因となったとしています。
According to the document, the number of foreign workers in fields such as science increased from 1.2 million in 2000 to 2.5 million in 2019, and it states that the abuse of this visa has been a factor in this increase.
そのうえで、外国人労働者の入国を制限するとし、ビザの申請にあたって、10万ドル、日本円にして1500万円近くの支払いを条件とするとしています。
On top of that, they are restricting the entry of foreign workers, and are making it a condition for visa applications to pay nearly $100,000, which is about 15 million yen.
移民局によりますと、2024年度に、更新を含め「H-1B」ビザを取得した人はおよそ40万人に上るとしています。
According to the immigration bureau, the number of people who obtained an H-1B visa, including renewals, in fiscal year 2024 is estimated to reach about 400,000.
署名に同席したラトニック商務長官は「アメリカのすばらしい大学を卒業したばかりのアメリカ人を企業は育てることになる。
The Secretary of Commerce, Ratnick, who was present at the signing, said, Companies will be nurturing Americans who have just graduated from Americas excellent universities.
