On Suwanosejima in Toshima Village, Kagoshima Prefecture, where a strong tremor with a seismic intensity of lower 5 was observed on September 17, seismic activity continued on the 25th as well.

The Japan Meteorological Agency is urging people to once again check their preparedness, stating that although seismic activity is decreasing, the number of earthquakes remains higher than normal.

On September 17th, there was an earthquake near the Tokara Islands, and a seismic intensity of lower 5 was observed on Suwanosejima in Toshima Village, Kagoshima Prefecture.

After that, Suwanosejima continued to experience active seismic activity, with one earthquake measuring intensity 4 observed on September 17 and two more on September 19. Between 8:00 p.m. on the 17th and 2:00 p.m. on the 25th, there were 104 earthquakes of intensity 1 or higher recorded.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the number of earthquakes with a seismic intensity of 1 or higher has decreased since September 22, and seismic activity has been declining, but it remains higher than normal.

The Japan Meteorological Agency is urging people to check their earthquake preparedness, as it is expected that earthquakes strong enough to be felt will occur several times a day for the time being.

On the other hand, volcanic activity has always been active on Suwanosejima, and intermittent eruptions occur at the Ontake crater.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the series of earthquakes is believed to be volcanic earthquakes from Suwanosejima. However, so far, no data changes indicating increased volcanic activity have been observed following the earthquake with a seismic intensity of lower 5.

The Japan Meteorological Agency states, No significant changes in volcanic activity have been observed so far, and it remains within the range of normal volcanic activity.
