琴櫻はことしの初場所で5勝10敗と負け越し、その後の3場所はいずれも8勝7敗の成績でしたが、今場所は前に出る相撲が見られ、11日目に勝ち越しを決めました。

そして13日目には横綱 豊昇龍に勝ってことし最多となる9勝目を挙げ、ここまで9勝4敗の成績でした。

師匠の佐渡ヶ嶽親方によりますと26日の取組で右ひざを痛めたということで、琴櫻は千葉県松戸市内の病院で診察を受けた結果、右ひざの内側側副じん帯の損傷のため全治3週間と診断され、14日目の27日から休場することになりました。
According to his master, Sadogatake Oyakata, Kotozakura injured his right knee during the bout on the 26th. After being examined at a hospital in Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture, he was diagnosed with a medial collateral ligament injury in his right knee, requiring three weeks for a full recovery. As a result, he will be absent from the tournament starting on the 27th, the 14th day.
佐渡ヶ嶽親方は「ひざから音がしたということで治療を続けたが、きょうになっても曲がらないと言うので『休め』と言った。
Stablemaster Sadogatake said, He said he heard a sound from his knee and continued treatment, but even today he said he couldnt bend it, so I told him, Take a rest.

He was frustrated because he had wrestled a good match, but theres no point in pushing him now, he said.
琴櫻の休場は令和4年の名古屋場所以来、4回目です。
Kotozakuras absence from the tournament is his fourth since the Nagoya tournament in 2022.
対戦する予定だったここまで1敗いで優勝争い単独トップの大の里は不戦勝となります。
Dainosato, who was scheduled to compete and is currently the sole leader in the championship race with only one loss so far, will win by default.
これにより、2敗で追う横綱 豊昇龍が結びの一番で敗れると、千秋楽を待たずに大の里の5回目の優勝が決まります。
If Yokozuna Hoshoryu, who is trailing with two losses, is defeated in the final bout, Oonosato will secure his fifth championship even before the final day.
