The final candidates for the All-MLB Team, in which players who performed well this season in the major leagues are selected by fan voting and other means, have been announced. Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto of the Dodgers, as well as Seiya Suzuki of the Cubs, have been nominated in their respective categories.

The All-MLB Team is an award established by Major League Baseball in 2019, where fans and media vote to select the First Team and Second Team across both leagues.

The Major League Baseball organization announced the final candidates for each position on the 29th, and Ohtani, who made his return as a two-way player this season, was selected as a nominee in the designated hitter category.

Shohei Ohtani was selected to the First Team as a designated hitter and to the Second Team as a starting pitcher in 2021. In 2022, he made the Second Team as a designated hitter and the First Team as a starting pitcher. The year before last, he was selected to the First Team as both a designated hitter and a starting pitcher, and last year, he was chosen for the First Team as a designated hitter. This year, he is expected to make the First Team for the fifth consecutive year.

Also, Cubs player Suzuki, in his fourth year in the major leagues, hit 32 home runs and recorded 103 RBIs, ranking fourth in the National League. He was nominated in the same Designated Hitter category as Ohtani. In his second year in the major leagues, he ranked second in the National League in ERA.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto of the Dodgers, who recorded 49 appearances and 12 wins, was nominated in the starting pitcher category.

The final candidates for designated hitter are 13 players, including Ohtani and Suzuki, as well as the Phillies Schwarber, who hit 56 home runs in the National League, surpassing Ohtani. The player with the most votes will be selected for the First Team, and the runner-up will be selected for the Second Team.

In addition, there are 31 final candidates for starting pitchers, including Yamamoto, the Pirates’ Skenes, and the Tigers’ Skubal—ace pitchers from each team. The top five vote-getters will make the First Team, while those ranked sixth to tenth will be selected for the Second Team.

Voting will be conducted on the Major League Baseballs official website until the 10th of next month 11th in Japan time, and the winners are scheduled to be announced on November 13th 14th in Japan time.
