They are believed to be exchanging views on further strengthening relations between the two countries, as well as addressing common challenges such as population decline and the overconcentration of the capital.
石破総理大臣は30日午後2時すぎ、政府専用機で韓国第2の都市・プサンに到着し、5時前からイ・ジェミョン大統領との首脳会談に臨んでいます。
Prime Minister Ishiba arrived in Busan, South Koreas second largest city, on the government plane shortly after 2 p.m. on the 30th, and is currently attending a summit meeting with President Lee Jae-myung that began just before 5 p.m.
会談では日韓国交正常化からことしで60年を迎えたことも踏まえ、政府間の継続的な意思疎通を通じて、両国のさらなる関係強化を図ることを確認しているものとみられます。
In the talks, it is believed that both sides confirmed their intention to further strengthen the relationship between the two countries through continued communication between the governments, taking into account that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and South Korea.
また、人口減少や少子化、首都一極集中といった共通の課題への対応をめぐり、意見を交わしているものとみられます。
It is also believed that they are exchanging opinions on how to address common issues such as population decline, the declining birthrate, and the overconcentration of people in the capital.
そして来月、韓国のキョンジュ（慶州）で開幕する、APEC＝アジア太平洋経済協力会議の首脳会議に向けた協力も確認しているものとみられます。
And next month, they are also believed to have confirmed cooperation toward the APEC Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit to be held in Gyeongju, South Korea.
今回の訪問はイ大統領が、先月下旬に就任後初めて日本を訪れたことを受けた、首脳による相互往来「シャトル外交」の一環で、石破総理大臣は会談のあと記者団に対し内容や成果などを説明する予定です。
This visit is part of shuttle diplomacy, a reciprocal exchange of visits by leaders, following President Yis first visit to Japan late last month after taking office. After the talks, Prime Minister Ishiba is scheduled to brief the press on the details and outcomes.
