On the 7th, at Todaimae Station on the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo, a 20-year-old university student who was about to board a train was suddenly attacked with a knife. Yoshitaka Toda, a 43-year-old with no known occupation living in Ikusaka Village, Nagano Prefecture, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the suspect remains silent during questioning.

Based on the investigation so far, it appears that the suspect stayed inside the ticket gate area of the station for about 30 minutes before the incident and suddenly attacked a university student from behind with a kitchen knife with a blade about 16 centimeters long as the student was about to board a train on the platform.

In addition to the kitchen knife he used to attack the university student, it was learned from interviews with investigators that he had another kitchen knife in his bag.
