林官房長官は午後5時すぎの臨時の記者会見で「トカラ列島近海ではこれまでに震度5弱を3回観測したほか、先月21日以降、震度1以上の地震を計1000回以上観測しており、政府としては、官邸危機管理センターに情報連絡室を設置し情報収集にあたっていたが、先ほどの地震を受け、ただちに官邸対策室に改組するとともに関係省庁の局長級による緊急参集チームを招集した」と述べました。
