”Yakochu” where the sea shines blue in Kagoshima Bay
今月の初めごろ、鹿児島湾で赤潮があるのが見つかりました
Around the beginning of this month, red tide was found in Kagoshima Bay.
Experts say it’s caused by plankton called ”Yakouchu”, which is about 1mm in size.
On the night of the middle of this month, the area around the ship going to Sakurajima was glowing blue.
It increases a lot from the end of February to the beginning of May when the sea of Kagoshima Bay warms up.
In Kagoshima prefecture last year, a red tide caused by another plankton killed many farmed fish.
”Every year when I see Yakouchu, I think spring has come.
It’s not dangerous, so please don’t worry and watch it.”
