後継者不足に悩む地元のリンゴ農家の助けになればと秋田県の中学生が一念発起。
Middle school students in Akita Prefecture decided to help local apple farmers who were struggling due to lack of successors.
ハート形のリンゴを考案しました。

リンゴがたわわに実った木をよく見てみると、ハート形のプラスチックの型が。

湯沢市にある稲川中学校の生徒らが、ハート形のリンゴができれば地元のPRにつながるのではないかと考案しました。　
Students at Inagawa Junior High School in Yuzawa City came up with the idea that if they could make a heart-shaped apple, it would help promote the locality.
湯沢市は、秋田県南東部の山あいに位置していて糖度の高い「駒形りんご」の産地として知られています。　
Yuzawa City is located in the mountains of southeastern Akita Prefecture and is famous for producing Komagata apples with high sugar content.
しかし、後継者不足や豪雪被害により生産量は減少傾向にあるそうです。　
However, production appears to be declining due to lack of successors and heavy damage from snowfall.
これまでの2年間、リンゴの実がプラスチックの型より大きくなって割れるなど失敗続きでしたが、
Over the past two years, they have encountered a series of failures such as apples growing larger than the plastic mold and cracking,
成長を妨げないよう3Dプリンターで側面の空いた型を作り、見事収穫に成功しました。　
but they were then able to create a mold with open sides using a 3D printer that wouldn't hinder their growth, and successfully harvested the fruit.
ハート形のリンゴは、結婚式やイベントなどに提供する予定で、生徒らは「いずれは、湯沢の名産品になってほしい」と願っています。
The students plan to offer the heart-shaped apples at weddings and other events, and the students hope that they will eventually become a Yuzawa specialty.
