500円硬貨のデザインの変更は2000年以来2回目で、3代目となります。　
This is the second time the design of the 500 yen coin has been changed since 2000, and it is the third generation.
図柄は今のものとほぼ同じですが、新たな材料を加えることで2色構造を初めて取り入れ、縁のギザギザの一部を異なる形状にするなど、偽造防止の効果を高めています。
The design is almost the same as it is now, but with the addition of new materials, it will for the first time have a two-color construction and a serrated edge section made into a different shape to increase its anti-counterfeiting effect.
日銀から民間の金融機関を通して市中に出回るのは11月ごろで、今年度は約2億枚の発行を予定しています。　
The new 500 yen coin will be marketed by the Bank of Japan through private financial institutions around November and is expected to issue about 200 million coins this year.
現在、500円硬貨は50億枚ほど流通していて、大半が新しい硬貨に替わるのには、相当な時間がかかるとみられています。
Currently, there are about 5 billion 500 yen coins in circulation, and it is expected to take a considerable amount of time for most of them to be replaced by new coins.
