終戦から今日で76年です。
Today, 76 years have passed since the war ended.
天皇陛下は全国戦没者追悼式で「新型コロナの新たな試練を皆が力を合わせて乗り越え、今後も幸せと平和を希求し続けることを心から願う」と述べられました。　
At the National War Memorial, the Emperor said, "I sincerely hope that everyone will overcome the new challenge of the corona virus together and continue to seek happiness and peace in the future."
「私たちは今、新型コロナウイルス感染症の厳しい感染状況による新たな試練に直面していますが、
“Currently, we are facing the challenge caused by the serious infection situation of corona virus,
私たち皆がなお一層、心を一つにし、力を合わせてこの困難を乗り越え、今後とも人々の幸せと平和を希求し続けていくことを心から願います」　
I sincerely hope that all of us will continue to unite, work together to overcome this difficulty, continue to pursue happiness and peace for the people."
東京の日本武道館での追悼式は例年、6000人ほどが参列していました。　
About 6,000 people attended the memorial service at Nippon Budokan in Tokyo every year.
今年は緊急事態宣言下での開催となり、来賓を除いた遺族の数は過去最少の約100人となりました。　
This year, the event was held when the declaration of a state of emergency was issued and the number of bereaved families, excluding guests, was the lowest ever, around 100.
「私の父親が昭和20年に亡くなりました。今回、最後のおつとめじゃないかと思って」　
"My father died in 1945. I think this may be the last time I will be able to attend the memorial celebration."
遺族の高齢化が進み、参列する戦没者の妻は初めて1人もいなくなりました。
The bereaved family members are getting older and older, and for the first time, none of the wives of those who died in battle are present.
