1882年の開園以来、初めて上野動物園でゾウの赤ちゃんが誕生しました。　
The first baby elephant was born at Ueno Zoo since it opened in 1882.
上野動物園によりますと、おととい午前5時44分に雄のアジアゾウが誕生しました。
According to Ueno zoo, an Asian male elephant was born at 5:44 am the day before yesterday.
高さは1メートル、体重は約120キロだということです。
It is 1 meter tall and weighs about 120 kg.
上野動物園でゾウの赤ちゃんが生まれるのは初めてです。
This is the first time that a baby elephant has been born at Ueno Zoo.
母親のウタイは父親のアティとともに2002年、天皇皇后両陛下の長女・愛子さまのご誕生を祝ってタイから寄贈され、上野動物園に来園。
Utai, the mother elephant along with Ati, the father elephant, was donated by Thailand to celebrate the birthday of Princess Aiko, the eldest daughter of the Emperor and Empress in 2002, and was later taken to Ueno Zoo.
ウタイは去年1月から約22カ月の妊娠期間を経て出産しました。
Utai gave birth after a pregnancy of about 22 months since January last year.
上野動物園はゾウの赤ちゃんの公開日について決まり次第、発表するとしています。
Ueno Zoo will announce the public date of the baby elephant as soon as it is decided.
