14日、北海道斜里町の羅臼岳で、20代の登山者の男性がクマに襲われて、行方が分からなくなり、警察が15日、地元のハンターなどとともに捜索したところ、山の中で遺体で見つかりました。
On the 14th, a male climber in his twenties was attacked by a bear on Mount Rausu in Shari Town, Hokkaido, and went missing. On the 15th, police searched the mountain with local hunters and others, and found his body in the mountains.
男性が発見された場所にいた親子とみられる3頭のヒグマは、ハンターによって駆除されました。
Three brown bears, believed to be a mother and her cubs, that were at the location where the man was found, were killed by hunters.
今回ヒグマによる事故が起きた知床半島は、雄大な自然で人気を集める世界自然遺産で、多くの観光客が訪れる場所です。
The Shiretoko Peninsula, where the recent brown bear incident occurred, is a World Natural Heritage site known for its magnificent nature and attracts many tourists.
16日、今回の現場から20キロほど離れた観光名所、オシンコシンの滝を訪れた人たちからは、ヒグマに対して、注意したいという声や不安だという声が聞かれました。

静岡から来た20代の女性は「ニュースを見てより安全を確保しようと友達と話し合いました。

また、愛知から来た60代の男性は「1人では行動しないように心がけたい」と話していました。

今回駆除された3頭のヒグマについて、北海道の研究機構は、体毛のDNAを分析して男性を襲った個体かどうか特定を進めることにしています。
Regarding the three brown bears that were exterminated this time, Hokkaidos research institute plans to analyze the DNA from their fur to determine whether any of them were the individuals that attacked the man.
山岳ガイド “ヒトとヒグマの適切な距離感 失われてきている”
知床半島で、20年余りにわたって登山ツアーなどを行っている山岳ガイドの滝澤大徳さんは、ヒトとヒグマの間にあった適切な“距離感”がここ数年、失われてきていると指摘します。
Mountain guide: The proper sense of distance between humans and brown bears is being lost. Mr. Daitoku Takizawa, a mountain guide who has been conducting climbing tours on the Shiretoko Peninsula for over 20 years, points out that the appropriate sense of distance that once existed between humans and brown bears has been lost in recent years.
その理由として滝澤さんは「川の流域でヒグマを撮影する人や、スマホで動画を撮るために近寄る人も増えている。
As a reason, Mr. Takizawa says, There are more people photographing brown bears along river basins and more people approaching them to take videos with their smartphones.

そのうえで「ヒグマとの距離が以前よりも近くなってしまったのは間違いなく、知床の登山のあり方を考えないといけない」と話していました。
He also said, There’s no doubt that the distance between us and the brown bears has become closer than before, so we need to reconsider how we approach mountain climbing in Shiretoko.
