Regarding Irans nuclear development, three European countries have notified the United Nations Security Council that Iran has violated the 2015 nuclear agreement and have begun procedures to reinstate sanctions.

Iran is strongly opposing, and it seems that diplomatic maneuvering will intensify going forward.

However, on the 28th, the three countries issued a joint statement saying that the talks had ended in failure, and revealed that they had begun procedures to notify the UN Security Council that Iran had violated the 2015 nuclear agreement and to reinstate sanctions.

In response, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement strongly rejecting the illegal notification and condemning it in the strongest terms, while also revealing that it had called on the three countries to reconsider their actions.

If a resolution to avoid sanctions is not adopted by the Security Council within the next 30 days, UN sanctions will be reimposed on Iran, and diplomatic maneuvering is likely to intensify, including among Irans friendly countries such as Russia and China.

On the other hand, The United States is prepared to engage in direct dialogue with Iran in order to promote a peaceful and lasting resolution of Irans nuclear issue.

We urge the leaders of Iran to immediately take the necessary measures to ensure that they never possess nuclear weapons, calling on Iran to respond to the stalled nuclear talks with the United States.

On top of that, he criticized the decisions of the three European countries, saying, This is diplomacy like pointing a gun at us—its nothing but intimidation.

Snapback refers to a measure that reinstates United Nations sanctions against Iran, which were lifted under the international agreement known as the nuclear deal reached between Iran and Western countries in 2015.

If the participating countries of the nuclear agreement determine that Iran has violated the agreement, they can notify the United Nations Security Council and, after following the necessary procedures, reinstate sanctions. The deadline for implementing this measure is until October 18th of this year.

If UN sanctions are reinstated, Iran will be required to halt its uranium enrichment activities, and transactions involving finance and weapons will also be restricted.

Regarding economic activities, although the actual impact is small since they are already considerably restricted by U.S. sanctions alone, some point out that this move is significant in terms of reinforcing Iran’s isolation in the international community.
