Noto Peninsula Earthquake: There was a meeting where the mayor of Wajima City and others spoke about their experiences
A meeting was held in Tokyo where the mayors of Wajima City and Suzu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, which suffered damage from the Noto Peninsula Earthquake in January of this year, spoke about their experiences.
Approximately 130 mayors and others from various parts of Japan gathered.
The mayor of Wajima City said his cell phone was out of service and he was unable to contact city officials.
He said it was necessary to have more satellite phones in government offices.
They also talked about how dirty toilets at evacuation centers spread diseases such as viruses, and how many elderly people did not know how to use the toilets in a different way during a disaster.
