Lay judges: 18- and 19-year-olds will be selected next year
The lay judge system is a system in which people who are not legal experts participate in trials.
Lay judges are chosen by lottery from among those who can vote in elections to the House of Representatives.
The Supreme Court sent notices to 210,000 potential lay judges on the 15th.
From this year, the age of ”adult” is 18 years old.
For this reason, 18- and 19-year-olds may become lay judges next year.
Those who receive the notice may participate in the trial from February next year.
