Japanese News: 17歳の川崎レナさんが今年の「国際子ども平和賞」に決まる

17歳さいの川崎かわさきレナさんが今年ことしの「国際こくさい子こども平和賞へいわしょう」に決きまる

Rena Kawasaki is the first Japanese person to recieve the ”International Children’s peace prize”

川崎かわさきさんは大阪おおさかに住すむ17歳さいです

Miss Kawasaki is a 17 year-old who lives in Osaka.

世界せかいで活動かつどうをする団体だんたいが、子こどもの権利けんりのためにすばらしい活動かつどうをした人ひとに、毎年まいとしこの賞しょうを贈おくっています

Every year, organizations that operate around the world present this award to those who have done outstanding work for children’s rights.

地球温暖化ちきゅうおんだんかを止とめるために活動かつどうをしているグレタ・トゥーンベリさんももらったことがあります

Greta Thunberg, who is working to stop global warming, has also received one.

川崎かわさきさんは8歳さいのときに読よんだ本ほんで、世界せかいには政治せいじの理由りゆうで教育きょういくを受うけることができない子こどもがたくさんいることを知しりました

And when she was 14, she started an NGO (a charity) so that kids and politicians could express their opinions.

そして14歳さいのときにNGOをつくって、子こどもと政治せいじ家かがオンラインで意見いけんを言いうことができるようにしました

They are working to allow young people to be able to participate more in politics and the community

若わかい人ひとが政治せいじや社会しゃかいにもっと参加さんかできるように活動かつどうをしています

Miss Kawasaki expressed her joy by saying, ”I’ve been given the strength to keep working hard so that each and everyone’s opinion reaches other people and (their opinion) is valued.”

Mr. Kawasaki said, I got the power to keep working hard so that each person`s opinion reach the other party and cherish it.
