ボルネオ島のマレーシア領内にある世界自然遺産の山で2種類の新種のカエルが見つかったと京都大学の研究グループが発表しました。　
A research team at Kyoto University has announced that two new species of frogs were found at a World Natural Heritage mountain in Malaysian territory on the island of Borneo.
京都大学の福山伊吹さんらの研究グループは、ボルネオ島のムル山に生息する固有種のカエル「タカネチョボグチガエル」の新種2種類を発見したと発表しました。　
A research team led by Ibuki Fukuyama of Kyoto University announced that they had discovered two new endemic species of frog "Takanechoboguchigaeru" living on Mount Mulu on the island of Borneo.
新たに見つかったのは「タカネチョボグチガエル」よりも高い所に生息する「プンチャックタカネチョボグチガエル」と、低い所に生息する「ヒメタカネチョボグチガエル」の2種類です。　
Two new species have been found are "Punchak Takanechoboguchi Frog" living in higher places than "Takanechoboguchi Frog" and "Himetakanechoboguchi Frog" living in lower places.
福山さんは「標高によって植生や気温、降水量などが異なるため、それぞれの環境に適応した結果、種が分かれた可能性が考えられる」としています。
“Because vegetation, temperature and rainfall vary depending on altitude, it is possible that the species diverged due to adaptations to each environment,” said Fukuyama.
