北朝鮮体育省などは中国宛の5日の手紙で、来月から始まる北京冬季オリンピック・パラリンピックへの不参加を表明しました。　
In a letter to China on May 5, North Korea's Ministry of Physical Education and other agencies announced that they would not participate in the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics starting next month.
今日付の朝鮮労働党の機関紙によりますと、北朝鮮体育省とオリンピック委員会は中国の同委員会などへ手紙を送り、北京大会への不参加を伝えたということです。

手紙ではアメリカなどが「外交的ボイコット」を表明したことを指摘し、「オリンピック憲章の精神への冒涜で、中国に泥を塗ろうとする行為に断固反対する」としています。　
In the letter, the North Korean side pointed out that the US and other countries expressed a "diplomatic boycott position", "It is a blasphemy of the spirit of the Olympic Charter, and we firmly oppose the act of smearing China," they said.
そのうえで「敵対勢力の策動と世界的な伝染病の流行で大会に参加できなくなった」と初めて不参加に公式に言及しました。　
Then, for the first time, they officially mentioned not being able to participate in the tournament because of the measures of hostile forces and the global infectious disease epidemic.
一方、大会については「中国人民と選手が妨害と難関を退け成功させると確信している」と支持を表明しています。
On the other hand, North Korea also expressed support for the tournament, saying, "I am confident that the Chinese people and athletes will succeed in removing obstacles and barriers."
