「インスタグラム」を巡っては、ウォール・ストリート・ジャーナルが14日、「特に痩せたいと思う若い女性にうつや摂食障害を起こす可能性がある」などとしたフェイスブック社内の調査について報じていました。

この報道をきっかけに批判が高まったことを受け、13歳未満向けのSNS「インスタグラム・キッズ」の開発が一時中断されることが27日に発表されました。　
In response to the harsh criticism caused by this report, on the 27th it was announced that the development of the SNS "Instagram Kids" for children under the age of 13 would be temporarily suspended.
ただ、声明のなかで、「子どもたちはすでにインターネットにアクセスしている」として、子どもが年齢を偽って大人向けのアプリにアクセスするよりも、親がコントロールできる子ども向けアプリの方が良い選択だと主張しています。
