栃木県のブランド梨の大きさなどを競うコンテストが宇都宮市で開かれ、2100グラムを超える大玉が最優秀に選ばれました。
並んでいるのは収穫されたばかりの「にっこり」と呼ばれる梨です。
栃木県のオリジナル品種で、観光地「日光」と梨の音読み「り」から名前を取りました。
実が大きいのが特長で、なかには大きさが赤ちゃんの頭くらいまで成長するものもあります。
27日に宇都宮市で開かれたコンテストは「にっこり」の大きさを改めて知ってもらおうというもので、27の生産者が自慢の梨を出品しました。
審査の結果、重さが2104グラムのものが第1位の最優秀大玉賞に輝きました。
「今年ちょっと『にっこり』が色々とうまくできない部分がたくさんあって、ちょっと心配してたんですけど、きょう2000グラム超えるものが取れてホッとしました」
上位10位までに入ると、都内にある栃木県のアンテナショップで来月5日に展示される予定です。
