SNS上でのひぼう中傷などの深刻化を受けて、3年前の7月から刑法の侮辱罪が厳しくなり、「30万円以下の罰金」などの刑が加えられました。
Due to the increasing severity of slander and insults on social media, the criminal penalty for insult under the Penal Code was tightened three years ago in July, and punishments such as a fine of up to 300,000 yen were added.
今後、法律の運用などについて検証が行われることになっていて、法務省は9月中旬、有識者を交えた検討会に、これまでの状況を示しました。
In the future, examinations regarding the implementation of the law will be conducted, and in mid-September, the Ministry of Justice presented the situation so far to a study group that included experts.
法務省のまとめによりますと、ことしの6月末までの間に罰金刑が科された人は、延べ118人でした。
According to a summary by the Ministry of Justice, a total of 118 people had been fined by the end of June this year.
このうち、SNSなどインターネット上のひぼう中傷などで刑を科されたのは、延べ85人で、およそ70％を占めています。
Of these, a total of 85 people were punished for slander and defamation on the internet, such as on social media, accounting for about 70%.
具体的には、SNSに被害者の容姿の画像と、それを侮辱する投稿をしたとして、罰金30万円が科されたケースや、インターネットの掲示板に、被害者の名前と電話番号だとする数字を書き込んで中傷したとして、罰金10万円が科されたケースなどがあったということです。
Specifically, there have been cases such as a fine of 300,000 yen being imposed for posting an image of the victim’s appearance along with insulting comments on social media, and a fine of 100,000 yen being imposed for posting numbers claimed to be the victim’s name and phone number on an internet message board and defaming them.
法務省の検討会では、法律の見直しが必要かどうかなど議論することにしています。
The Ministry of Justices review panel plans to discuss whether it is necessary to revise the law, among other things.
