A South Korean ministerial candidate who had been accused of privately diversion of political funds has announced that he will decline.
It is an ”unusual situation” in which two people decline the same post.
Former Diet member Kim Seung-hee, who had been nominated by President Yoon Seok-yeol as a candidate for the Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Human Services, announced on the 4th that he would decline.
Regarding Mr. Kim, allegations of private diversion of political funds were raised due to the purchase of cars and the payment of insurance premiums when he was a member of the Diet.
Mr. Kim explained that he declined because of ”pointing out management responsibility” while denying the suspicion as a ”business mistake”.
In May, a candidate for the same post declined due to suspicion of illegal admission of a child, and the Korean media reported that it was an ”unusual situation”.
