Event for Korean Literature appreciation held in Tokyo
東京の千代田区にある韓国の本を売る店で７日、韓国の文学を楽しむイベントがありました
A bookstore in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo held an event for Korean literature appreciation last August 7.
About 20 people participated, who were able to have a discussion with the translator of the short story ”Shouko’s Smile” written by Choi Eun-young .

In Korea, works by Japanese writers such as Murakami Haruki and Higashino Keigo have been read by a lot of Koreans.
In turn, Korean novels started to be translated about 10 years ago in Japan and have also been read by a lot of Japanese.
A man who participated in the event says, ”There are a lot of things that I don’t know about Korea.
For example, there was an issue about their politics just recently. I think I’d like to know more.”

This event was opened by Kim Seung-bok, whose company spearheaded the introduction of the Korean literature to Japan.
”I think that literature has the power to convey a person’s emotions,” Mr. Kim says.
”I want to introduce a lot more Korean literature in Japan.”
