Tomei Expressway Carrier car on fire burns 6 loaded cars
On the morning of the 9th, on the Tomei Expressway in Yokohama City, a carrier car that was running caught fire, and the car that was loading it burned violently.
No one was injured, but the area around the site was temporarily closed to traffic and is still congested.
Six of the cars on board were also on fire, and the fire was extinguished after about an hour and a half.
The carrier car driver escaped and there were no injuries.
Due to the fire, the Tomei Expressway was closed to traffic for about an hour and a half on the outbound line between the Yokohama Machida Interchange and the Ayase Smart Interchange.
According to the Japan Road Traffic Information Center and other sources, the traffic volume is higher than usual due to the three consecutive holidays, and as of 12:30 p.m., there is a 7-kilometer traffic jam starting from the site.
