Hachiko was born 100 years ago - 40 Akita Inus stroll through Shibuya
東京の渋谷駅の前には、ハチ公という秋田犬の像があります
In front of Shibuya Station in Tokyo is a statue of a Akita Inu. Its name is Hachiko.
Hachiko waited for its owner to return at Shibuya Station for around 10 years although the owner had died before. It still kept on waiting. This made the dog famous.
On the 2nd of December an event was held to remember that Hachiko was born 100 years ago.
From different places in Japan around 40 Akita Inus were brought together.
犬たちは、飼い主と一緒に渋谷駅の周りを１時間ぐらい歩きました
Those dogs strolled together with their owners through Shibuya Station’s surrounding area for about an hour.
Many people gathered together on the pavement and took photos.
秋田犬と一緒に群馬県から来た男性は「自分の犬をみんなにかわいいと言ってもらって、うれしかったです」と話しました
A owner who came together with its dog from the Gunma prefecture said:”I was happy that everyone said that my dog is cute.”
イベントを見に来た女性は「初めて秋田犬に触りました
A woman who came to see the event said:”It was the first time I petted an Akita Inu”
Continuing ”It was fluffy and cute.”
