“Chichibu Night Festival” in Saitama Prefecture: Beautiful floats rotate through the city at night

At a shrine in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture, a festival called ”Chichibu Night Festival” has been held for over 300 years.
It is a festival in which beautiful floats rotate through the city at night, and is a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
On the night of the 3rd, the floats, decorated with paper lanterns and brightly lit, circled around the city for about 1km, making lively sounds of drums and flutes.
Many people pulled the floats up a steep slope that continued for about 50 meters, shouting ”wasshoi, wasshoi!”
More than 6,500 fireworks were set off at the venue.

A woman from Tochigi Prefecture said, ``This is my first time seeing it.
The floats going up the hill were amazing.”
According to Chichibu City, more than 368,000 people enjoyed the festival on the 2nd and 3rd.
