Tawada Youko Receives Famous American Literature Award

America\'s extremely famous literature award, the National Book Awards, was announced on November 14th.
Tawada Youko\'s The Emissary, authored in Japanese, was selected for the awards translated book category.
The last time a Japanese book was selected for this prize was in 1982.
The Emissary is a novel that imagines a future Japan where contact with foreign countries ends following a big earthquake and nuclear power plant accident.

Tawada-San is a 58-year-old woman born in Tokyo, and in 1993 she received the Akutagawa Prize that is a famous literature award in Japan.
